Li Ang (Chinese:李昂;pinyin:Lǐ Áng;Mandarin pronunciation:[lì ǎŋ]; born 15 September 1993) is aChinese footballer who currently plays forChinese Super League sideShanghai Port and theChina national team.
Li Ang started his football career withJiangsu Suning in 2014 after playing for Jiangsu Youth during the 2011 season and the 2012 season.[1] He made his debut for the club in a league game on 8 March 2014 in a 0-0 draw againstGuizhou Renhe.[2] He scored his first goal for the club in a league game on 11 May 2014 in a 1-0 win againstChangchun Yatai.[3] Throughout the season he would go on to establish himself as an integral member of the team and would play in the2014 Chinese FA Cup, which the club lost 5-4 on aggregate toShandong Luneng Taishan.[4] The following season Li would continue to cement his position within the team and go to win the2015 Chinese FA Cup againstShanghai Shenhua.[5]
Li would go on to be a consistent presence within the team as he won the2020 Chinese Super League title with the club.[6] On 28 February 2021, the parent company of the clubSuning Holdings Group announced that operations were going to cease immediately due to financial difficulties.[7] On 12 March 2021, Li was free to transfer to fellow top tier clubShanghai Port.[8] He would make his debut for the club in a league game on 22 April 2021 againstTianjin Jinmen Tiger in a 6-1 victory.[9]
Li made his debut for theChinese national team on 22 June 2014 in a 0-0 draw againstMacedonia.[10]
