Dewey Lee Yoder Jr (July 18, 1930 – May 17, 2023[1]) was an Americanhurdler, known asLee Yoder. Yoder attendedMercersburg Academy as a youth, where he trained underJimmy Curran. He came second in the 400 metres hurdles at the1952 US Olympic trials, beaten only by eventual gold medalistCharles Moore (also from Mercersburg). He competed in the400 metres hurdles at the1952 Summer Olympics.[2][3]
Running for theUniversity of Arkansas, Yoder finished second at the1952 NCAA Track and Field Championships[4] behind Bob Diviney from Kansas. Yoder later playedfield hockey, including as part of the bronze medal winning American team at the1967 Pan American Games.[5] He was manager for theUnited States field hockey team at the 1984 Olympics.
