Lee Hunter (born July 2, 2002)[1] is an Americancollege footballdefensive tackle for theTexas Tech Red Raiders. He previously played for theAuburn Tigers andUCF Knights.

Early life

Hunter was born inMobile, Alabama, where he grew up.[2] He playedfootball atBen C. Rain High School as afreshman before transferring toMattie T. Blount High School.[3] As ajunior at Blount, Hunter, playing as adefensive lineman, recorded 77tackles, 23 tackles-for-loss (TFLs) and eightsacks.[4] He then made 54 tackles, 20 TFLs and 4.5 sacks as asenior while helping Blount to the Class 6A quarterfinals, being selected first-team all-state for his performance.[3] A four-star recruit and one of the top-100 prospects nationally, he committed to playcollege football for theAuburn Tigers.[5][6][7]

College career

Hunterredshirted as atrue freshman at Auburn in 2021, seeing no playing time.[8] He entered theNCAA transfer portal after the season, claiming that the team's players were treated "like dogs" under head coachBryan Harsin.[9] He transferred to theUCF Knights, playing in 13 games while recording 17 tackles during the 2022 season.[2] Then, as asophomore in 2023, he was named honorable mention All-Big 12 Conference after recording 69 tackles, 11 TFLs and three sacks.[10] In 2024, he totaled 45 tackles, 9.5 TFLs and one sack while being named second-team All-Big 12.[11] He transferred to theTexas Tech Red Raiders for his final season in 2025.[12]
