Lebak Bulus Stadium was afootball stadium inJakarta,Indonesia. The stadium had 12,500 seats and can be extended to 15,000 until 25,000 people.[1] It was used mostly forfootball matches. The stadium heldAFC U-17 Championship 2008 QualificationGroup F Matches andFootball Men's Tournament at the 2011 SEA GamesGroup B Matches.[2]
The stadium was demolished in 2013 to build a depot for theJakarta Mass Rapid Transit system.[3] The new stadium, known as theJakarta International Stadium, was built at 4.5 hectares, initially in Tanjung Priok, with Rp 580 billion ($62.7 million) fund and located close to nearbyrailroad andtoll road.[4] The stadium first started construction on early 2020,[5][6] with the exact location inTanjung Priok,North Jakarta.
On 8 July 1992, Brazilian metal bandSepultura performed at the stadium during their 1992 World Arise Tour.
On 10 and 11 April 1993,Metallica performed at the stadium during theirNowhere Else to Roam tour. Attended by more than 40,000 people, the concert is infamous for its mass rioting and looting.[7] The utter havoc was recalled by drummerLars Ulrich in the documentary filmGlobal Metal.
