Lawrence Baker (June 18, 1890 – October 14, 1980) was an Americantennis administrator and player.[1][2]
Baker was born inLowndesville, South Carolina.[1] In 1930 he waschairman of theChevy Chase Club inChevy Chase, Maryland,[3] and he was president of theUnited States Tennis Association from 1948 to 1950.[1] He was captain of theUnited States team at the1953 Davis Cup.[1] Baker wasgeneral counsel for the United States Tennis Association until 1970.[1] He was inducted into theInternational Tennis Hall of Fame in thecontributor category in 1975.[1]
Baker died in October 1980, at the age of 90.[1]
