Laurence Rosenthal (born November 4, 1926) is an American composer, arranger, and conductor for theater, television, film, and the concert hall.[1]

Biography

Born inDetroit,Michigan, Rosenthal attended theEastman School of Music inRochester,New York, where he studiedpiano andcomposition. He then studied inParis withNadia Boulanger.[2] Among his best-known film scores are:A Raisin in the Sun,The Miracle Worker,Becket,The Island of Dr. Moreau,Clash of the Titans,The Return of a Man Called Horse andMeetings with Remarkable Men.[3]

Rosenthal'sBroadway arranging credits includeThe Music Man andDonnybrook!. He composed forSherry!,A Patriot for Me andTake Me Along (dance music only).[4]

His daughter is stem-cell scientistNadia Rosenthal.
