Laura Kathleen Jane Stephens (born 2 June 1999) is a retired[1] Britishswimmer.[2][3] In 2024 she won the gold medal for the200 metre butterfly at the2024 World Aquatics Championships and competed at the2024 Summer Olympics.
Stephens competed in thewomen's 200 metre butterfly at the2019 World Aquatics Championships, where she reached the final.[4] In 2022, she represented England at the2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where she won two medals.[2]
In 2023, she won the gold medal at the2023 British Swimming Championships in the200 metres butterfly. It was the second time that she had won the 200 metres title, having won it in 2022 as well.[5]
After finishing second in the200 metres butterfly at the2024 Aquatics GB Swimming Championships, Stephens recorded a time that met the British Consideration criteria for a place at the2024 Summer Olympics.[6] She was subsequently named in the British team for the Olympics.[7] At the Olympic Games, Stephens reached the Olymic final of thewomen's 200 metre butterfly.
