Lana Therese Condor (bornTrần Đồng Lan ; May 11, 1997)[ 1] [ 2] [ 3] is an American actress and YouTuber. She made her acting debut starring asJubilee in thesuperhero film X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), and gained international recognition for portraying Lara Jean Covey in the romantic comedyTo All the Boys film series (2018–2021). She has also portrayed Saya Kuroki in the television seriesDeadly Class and Koyomi in the filmAlita: Battle Angel (both 2019), and voiced the titular character in the animated teen comedy filmRuby Gillman, Teenage Kraken (2023).
Born in Vietnam,[ 4] Condor lived her first months in an orphanage inCần Thơ under the name Trần Đồng Lan. On October 6, 1997, she was adopted and renamed by American parents Mary Carol Condor (née Haubold) (died July 2024)[ 5] and Bob Condor inChicago , Illinois.[ 6] Condor has a brother, Arthur, who is three months older and was adopted from the same orphanage.[ 1] [ 7] Condor and her family lived inWhidbey Island ,[ 8] Washington, andNew York City .[ 9]
Condor studied ballet as a child, training with the Whidbey Island Dance Theater,Joffrey Ballet ,the Rock School for Dance Education , and theAlvin Ailey American Dance Theater .[ 10] She continued dancing with theLos Angeles Ballet ,[ 11] and also trained atthe Groundlings inimprovisational theatre . She studied acting at theNew York Film Academy and Yale Summer Conservatory for Actors,[ 6] and in 2014 was a theatre scholar at theCalifornia State Summer School for the Arts .[ 12] As a high school freshman, she attended theProfessional Performing Arts School in New York City, and graduated fromNotre Dame Academy in Los Angeles in 2015.[ 11] In 2016, she was accepted atLoyola Marymount University but chose to postpone it to pursue acting.[ 13]
