Lady Marina Charlotte Alexandra Katharine Helen Windsor (born 30 September 1992) is a British philanthropic executive and relative of theBritish royal family. Although she is a great-great-granddaughter ofKing George V, and a second cousin once removed ofCharles III, she was removed from the line ofsuccession to the British throne in 2008 after beingconfirmed into the Roman Catholic Church. She works as a philanthropic executive atThe Big Give.

Early life, family, and education

Marina Charlotte Alexandra Katharine Helen Windsor was born on 30 September 1992 at theRosie Hospital inCambridge, Cambridgeshire, the second child ofGeorge Windsor, Earl of St Andrews, a diplomat and member of theHouse of Windsor, andSylvana Tomaselli, a Canadian historian and member of the Austrian-ItalianTomaselli family.[1][2] Her older brother isEdward Windsor, Lord Downpatrick, and her younger sister isLady Amelia Windsor. She is a paternal granddaughter ofPrince Edward, Duke of Kent, who is a first cousin ofElizabeth II, andKatharine, Duchess of Kent, the only daughter ofSir William Worsley, 4th Baronet. Lady Marina is named after her great-grandmotherPrincess Marina of Greece and Denmark.[3]

On 21 January 1993, Lady Marina was christened Marina Charlotte Alexandra Katharine Helen Windsor in aChurch of England ceremony byWilliam Booth, the sub-dean of theChapel Royal atSt James's Palace. Her godparents areLady Ralph Kerr, Katherine Ruth Panter, William Hanbury-Tenison, and Sasha Poklewski-Koziell.[4]

Lady Marina attendedSt Mary's School,Ascot, a Roman Catholic boarding school for girls.[5][6] She served as deputy head girl at St Mary's.[7] She went on to study French and Portuguese languages at theUniversity of Edinburgh, where she was active in dramatic societies and wrote for the student publicationY-Magazine.[7]

Succession rights

Until 2008, Lady Marina was 25th in theline of succession to the British throne.[8][9][10] She forfeited her place in the line of succession, in compliance with theAct of Settlement 1701, along with her older brother, after beingconfirmed in theCatholic Church of her mother and paternal grandmother.[11][12][13]

Career

In 2010, Lady Marina modelled forHardy Amies inTatler alongside her siblings. She later expressed interest in working in foreign diplomacy and not a modelling career.[6] She has worked on the New Generation festival inFlorence.[14] After completing school, she worked for a number of charities includingVeterans Aid, Beat Routes Charity, Eco-nnect, andThe Big Give, working at the latter as a philanthropic executive.[7]

Personal life

She attended thewedding of her third cousinPrince William, Duke of Cambridge toCatherine Middleton in 2011.[15][16]

In May 2012, Lady Marina travelled toThailand, where she trained inMuay Thai boxing.[17]

She announced her engagement to Nico Macauley on 8 June 2025.[18] He is a great-grandson ofWilliam Berry, 1st Viscount Camrose and a maternal first cousin of the actorJoshua Sasse.[19]
