Lachlan Hosie (born 25 February 1997) is anAustralian rules footballer who played for theNorth Melbourne Football Club in theAustralian Football League (AFL). He was recruited by theNorth Melbourne Football Club with the 5th draft pick in the2019 AFL Midseason Rookie Draft.[1][2]

Early football

Hosie played junior football for theHenley Football Club, where he kicked a total of 77 goals in his 2014 season in the Under 18s.[3] Hosie also played forGlenelg in theSouth Australian National Football League (SANFL), after missing out on selection at the2015 AFL draft.[4] Before his selection at the mid-season draft, Hosie was leading the goalkicking count in the2019 SANFL season.[5][6]

AFL/later SANFL career

Hosie kicked 20 goals in 10 games forNorth Melbourne's reserves team, but he struggled to break into the team.[7] Hosie debuted inNorth Melbourne's 33-point loss toGeelong in the 10th round of the2020 AFL season.[7] On debut, he kicked two goals in the opening quarter.[8] He also picked up 9 disposals, 2 tackles and a mark throughout the rest of the game.[9] Hosie was delisted byNorth Melbourne at the end of the2020 AFL season after a mass delisting byNorth Melbourne which saw 11 players cut from the team's list.[10] Hosie then returned to Adelaide to again play for Glenelg. He was selected to representSouth Australia againstWestern Australia in theirinterstate match in 2021.[11]

Hosie won theKen Farmer Medal in 2023 for kicking the most goals in the SANFL for the2023 season.[12]
