Background

[edit]

On January 21, 2017, the day afterGuerra de Titanes, Garza Jr. left AAA and made a surprise appearance at a "The Crash" show in Tijuana, Baja California alongsideDaga andPentagón Jr. who also left AAA. The trio was joined byRey Fénix, stating that they were now independent of AAA and were forming a group.[1] The group of Penta, Rey Fénix, Daga and Garza Jr. later announced that they would not be using thePerros del Mal name for the group, like Pentagón Jr. and Daga had used in AAA but instead come up with a new name for the group.[2] The group was namedLa Rebelión and would later includeEl Zorro andRey Mysterio Jr. as well.[3][4]

La Rebelión Amarilla

[edit]

In July 2017, Garza Jr. turned on the other members ofLa Rebelión, declaring a "war" against all members, especially Pentagón Jr. In mid-AugustBestia 666 joined forces with Garza Jr. as the two attacked Bestia's fatherDamián 666. Afterward they declared themselves to beLa Rebelión Amarilla.[5]La Rebelión Amarilla' first feud was withLa Familia de Tijuana led by Damián as most of the original Rebelión (sometimes referred to asLa Rebelión Roja) members were often booked for other companies than The Crash.[5] On September 2, 2017, the group added another member as Black Danger declared his allegiance after defeating Oráculo in aLucha de Apuestas, mask vs. mask match.[6]Although Black Danger rarely has appearances with the faction. Late in 2017, Puerto Rican wrestlerMr. 450 (later referred to as "Mecha Wolf 450") joined the team,[7] followed by Garza Jr.'s cousinÚltimo Ninja, female wrestler Lacey Lane,[5] andBlack Tauro.[8]

On January 20, 2018, Lane defeatedKeira to winThe Crash Women's Championship.[9][10]La Rebelión Amarilla interfered in several matches, attacking both wrestlers and officials as The Crash started a storyline where initially all members were "Suspended for a year",[10] but was later commuted toLa Rebelión Amarilla working low card matches as punishment, forcing them to "earn" their way back into the main events.[9] On July 14, 2018, Lacey Lane lost the women's championship toTessa Blanchard, after which it was revealed that Lane was going to joinWWE.[11] during the summer Último Ninja also left The Crash to work for WWE,[12] followed by Black Tauro working regularly for AAA, severing his ties with The Crash andLa Rebelión Amarilla. In the fall of 2018 Bestia 666 stated that no member ofLa Rebelión would face them and instead made an open challenge for aLucha de Apuestas, the challenge was answered by Garza Jr., setting the main event forThe Crash VII Aniversario show on November 8. The match was won by Bestia 666, forcing Garza Jr. to have all his hair shaved off.[13]

While Garza Jr. would later depart for WWE as well, the team addedEl Hijo del Fantasma to the group after he left AAA.[14] Over the spring of 2019 Bestia and Hijo del Fantasma tried to recruitRey Horus forLa Rebelión Amarilla, efforts that were initially turned down. A few months later El Hijo del Fantasma also left to work for WWE. On May 4, 2019, Rey Horus wonThe Crash Heavyweight Championship and then joinedLa Rebelión Amarillo afterward.[15] On May 24, Bestia 666 and Mecha Wolf wonThe Crash Tag Team Championship from their longtime rivals Pentagón Jr. and Fénix.[16]

On August 29, 2021, atNWA 73rd Anniversary Show Bestia 666 and Mecha Wolf won the NWA World Tag Team Championship defeatingAron Stevens andJ. R. Kratos.[17] On November 5, atThe Crash X Aniversario they won the Crash Tag Team Championship for the second time.[18]
