Tkrzw is alibrary of routines for managingkey–value databases.Tokyo Cabinet was sponsored by the Japanesesocial networking siteMixi, and was a multithreadedembedded database manager and was announced by its authors as "a modern implementation ofDBM".[1]Kyoto Cabinet is the designated successor of Tokyo Cabinet,[1] while Tkrzw is a recommended successor of Kyoto Cabinet.

Tokyo Cabinet features on-diskB+ trees andhash tables for key-value storage, with "some" support fortransactions.[2]
