Kyle Schmid (born August 3, 1984) is aCanadianactor, best known for his roles as Alex Caulder inHistory'sSix, Henry Durham inSyfy'sBeing Human, Robert Morehouse inBBC America'sCopper and Aaron Abbot inThe Covenant (2006). Recently, he starred as Moses in theNetflix science fiction miniseriesThe I-Land. In 2021, Schmid had a recurring role onABC's television dramaBig Sky. He currently stars as NCIS Special Agent Mike Franks inNCIS prequel seriesNCIS: Origins.
Schmid was born inMississauga,Ontario.[1] He played on theErin Mills soccer team, and attendedPort Credit Secondary School in Mississauga, Ontario.[citation needed]
Schmid is known for his starring role as 470-year-oldvampire Henry Fitzroy onLifetime's supernatural drama seriesBlood Ties,[2] and for his recurring role asAidan Waite's vampire progeny Henry on theSyfy seriesBeing Human.[2][3] He also starred as Robert Morehouse in theBBC America drama seriesCopper.[3][1]
He has appeared in several films, such asThe Covenant,A History of Violence,[3]The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,[2]The Pacifier, andZerophilia. He is also recognizable for playing the love interest ofRaven-Symoné's character, Galleria, inDisney Channel'sThe Cheetah Girls.[4]
In October 2018, it was announced that Schmid was cast in the main role of Moses on theNetflix science fiction miniseriesThe I-Land.[5] The miniseries was released on September 12, 2019.[6]
In January 2021, Schmid was added to the cast of the ABC dramaBig Sky as recurring character John Wayne Kleinsasser.[7]
In 2024, Schmid portrayedColin Strickland in theLifetime filmYoga Teacher Killer: The Kaitlin Armstrong Story which was based on theMurder of Moriah Wilson.[8]
Kyle and his now wifeCaity Lotz announced their relationship on the 4 July 2021 through an instagram post, the two were set up by friends in late 2020. In May 2022, via his Instagram profile, Schmid announced that he and Caity were engaged.[9] The two married in 2023 in a ceremony in Colombia. In September 2024, they announced the birth of their daughter.[10]
