Kyle McAllister (born 21 January 1999) is a Scottish professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder orforward forNational League sideForest Green Rovers. He came through the youth system atSt Mirren, and after moving to England to play forDerby County, he returned to St Mirren on loan in January 2019, and on a permanent basis in August 2019. McAllister has also representedScotland atunder-17 andunder-21 level.
McAllister, who attendedRenfrew High School,[5] began his career withScottish Championship clubSt Mirren, making his first team debut on 13 February 2016, coming on as a second-half substitute in 1–0 defeat againstQueen of the South.[6] His first full start for the side came the following week, when theSaints defeated relegation threatenedDumbarton 1–0.[7]
During the2016–17 season, McAllister made 14 appearances for St Mirren, scoring his first goal in aScottish Cup match againstLowland League sideSpartans,[8] described as "ferocious shot" following a run from his own half.[9][10] After interest from a number ofEnglish clubs,[11] he signed forEnglish Championship sideDerby County on 27 January 2017 for an undisclosed fee,[12] reported to be £225,000.[13]
In January 2019, having been unable to break through to the first team at Derby with his progress hampered by a groin injury,[13] McAllister returned to St Mirren on loan until the end of the season.[14] Just days later, he marked his return to the club by scoring the winning goal in a 3–2Scottish Cup win at home toAlloa Athletic,[15] (it was awarded 'goal of the round', as had his debut strike in 2016)[16] and made 14Scottish Premiership appearances as the club stayed in the division via the relegation playoff.[17][18]
On 9 August 2019, McAllister left Derby and signed a three-year contract with St Mirren.[19][4]
On 31 January 2022, McAllister joinedScottish Championship sidePartick Thistle on loan until the end of the season.[20]
On 17 June 2022, McAllister agreed to join recently promotedLeague One clubForest Green Rovers following his release from St Mirren.[21]
Having previously appeared for theunder-17 team,[22] McAllister made his debut for theScotland under-21 team in March 2019.[23]
