Kurti & Doyle are a British scriptwriting team comprising RichardKurti and BevDoyle. They're best known for their work on fantasy television series[1] such as BBC One'sRobin Hood (2006),ITV1'sPrimeval (2007)[2] andSky 1'sSinbad (2012).
Prior to their team up, Kurti directed short films and documentaries after training at the BBC. Beginning in 1995, Kurti & Doyle's work in independent British cinema led to a two-year writing contract with US studioMiramax. Following this they moved into television writing, starting withEastEnders andEldorado, followed by a three-part adaptation ofRobert Louis Stevenson’s novelKidnapped, forBBC One.
Their two part BBCSherlock Holmes dramaSherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars was produced byAndy Rowley forRDF Media (kids) and screened onBBC One in March 2007.[3] They also wrote the two-part adaptation ofTerry Pratchett's novelGoing Postal forSky 1 HD, and wrote the Tandem Communications/Syfy co-productionThe Lost Future, an action adventure TV movie set in a future that suffers from genetic regression.
They were to write a live-action version ofRudyard Kipling’sThe Jungle Book forPathé Films and the BBC, that was later reversioned for audio.[4][5] Kurti & Doyle have written extensively for audio: for B7 Media,they wrote an audio drama reboot of the iconic British science fiction comicDan Dare, distributed by Big Finish;[6][7] and an adaptation ofRay Bradbury’sThe Martian Chronicles, starringDerek Jacobi andHayley Atwell, also distributed by Big Finish;[8] and wrote the sci-fi thriller podcastThe Effect, commissioned from B7 Media by Audible.
Independent of the partnership, Kurti has authored young adult novels.[9]Monkey Wars was published in 2013 by Walker. The novel's plot focuses on two warring tribes of primates, the Langurs and the Rhesus. It was longlisted for theCarnegie Medal in 2014. Walker would then publishMaladapted in 2015. Doyle worked on the 2019 BBC nature documentarySerengeti.
