Krofne (Albanian andCroatian:krafne;Bosnian andSerbian:krofne,Serbian Cyrillic:крофне;Slovene:krofi;Macedonian:крофни) are airy filleddoughnuts. They are round and usually filled withjelly,marmalade,jam orchocolate as well as butter,Nutella and cinnamon. They can also be filled withcustard, orcream, but that is usually less common. The name comes from GermanKrapfen, and it is a variation of the Central European pastry known as theBerliner. They are also similar tobeignets.
