Krista Knudsen (/kəˈndsən/kə-NOOD-sən;[1] born December 28, 1979) is an American politician serving in theMinnesota House of Representatives since 2023. A member of theRepublican Party of Minnesota, Knudsen represents District 5A in northernMinnesota, which includes the city ofPark Rapids and parts ofBecker,Cass,Hubbard andWadena Counties.[2][3]

Early life, education and career

Knudsen attended college atMinnesota State University, Mankato, earning a bachelor's degree in social work and alcohol and drug studies.[2]

Knudsen served on theLake Shore City Council for eight years before becoming mayor in 2020.[2]

Minnesota House of Representatives

Knudsen was elected to theMinnesota House of Representatives in2022. She first ran after redistricting and after three-termRepublican incumbentJohn Poston announced he would not seek reelection.[2]

Knudsen serves on the Education Finance and Education Policy Committees.[2]

In 2025, Knudsen co-sponsored a bill to designatemessenger RNA (mRNA) treatments, which include severalCOVID-19 vaccines, "weapons of mass destruction", and make possessing or administering them a crime punishable by up to 20 years in prison. The bill was drafted by a Florida-basedhypnotist andconspiracy theorist who believes that mRNA treatments are "nanoparticle injections" that amount to "biological and technological weapons of mass destruction".[4][5]

Knudsen lives inLake Shore, Minnesota with her husband, Kevin, and four children.[2]
