Kota Brahmins are a Hindu Brahmin subcaste mainly from the Indian state ofKarnataka.[1] Kota Brahmins take their name from their native villageKota. They speak aKannada dialect different from the other regional dialects. Kota Brahmins are mainly concentrated in the villages ofKota ofUdupi district.[2] Kotas followSmarta tradition. TheGuru Narasimha Temple, Saligrama is important to them.[3]
