TheKomodo rat (Komodomys rintjanus) is a species ofrodent in the familyMuridae endemic to the surrounding islands ofFlores in Indonesia (includingKomodo,Lembata, andPantar), and formerly Flores itself. Its naturalhabitat is subtropical or tropical dryforests.It is threatened byhabitat loss.[1] It is thought to prefer open habitats. It has a body mass of around 100–200 grams (0.22–0.44 lb).[2]
