Kolavai Lake is a lake adjoining the town ofChengalpattu inTamil Nadu, India.[1] The lake is located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) fromChennai, and is close toParanur railway station andChengalpattu Junction railway station.[2] During times of acutewater shortage in summer, this lake serves as an additional source of water for the city of Chennai.[3][4] The lake hosts migratory birds such as thewhiskered tern,Indian spot-billed ducks,moorhens,coots, andsmall waders.[2]
