Knittelfeld (German:[ˈknitl̩ˌfɛlt]) is acity inStyria,Austria, located on the banks of theMur river.

The name of the town has become notorious for theKnittelfeld Putsch of September 7, 2002, a party meeting of theFreedom Party of Austria, which resulted in the2002 Austrian elections.
