Klayton Adams (born February 13, 1983) is an American professionalfootball coach who is theoffensive coordinator for theDallas Cowboys of theNational Football League (NFL). He previously served as an assistant coach for theArizona Cardinals, at theUniversity of Colorado Boulder,San Jose State University,Sacramento State University,Western Washington University,Boise State University, andIndianapolis Colts.
Adams initially playedjunior college football atAmerican River College near his hometownSacramento and initially wanted to convert tolinebacker but was persuaded not to by his coach.[1] He proceeded to walk-on atBoise State where he was named a second team All-WAC selection his senior year.[2]
Upon the conclusion of his playing career atBoise State, Adams began his coaching career at his alma mater as graduate assistant in2005. He went on to coach atWestern Washington as the run game coordinator and offensive line coach until the football program was shut down in 2008.[3] He also had stints coaching atSacramento State andSan Jose State.
Following the hire of San Jose State head coachMike MacIntyre as the head coach atColorado, Adams joined his coaching staff as the running backs and tight ends coach. He was shifted to offensive line coach in2016, and later added the title of co-offensive coordinator ahead of the2018 season.[4]
Initially taking a position atWyoming as their offensive line coach, Adams left to become the assistant offensive line coach for theIndianapolis Colts in2019.[5][6] After initially joining theArizona State coaching staff in2021, Adams opted to return to the Colts as their tight ends coach.[7][8]
The Cardinals hired Adams as their offensive line coach on February 20, 2023. Adams had originally accepted a coaching position with theStanford Cardinal, but chose instead to accept an offer from theArizona Cardinals to become their offensive line coach.[9]
TheDallas Cowboys hired Adams asoffensive coordinator on January 31, 2025.[10]
