Kladanj (Serbian Cyrillic:Кладањ) is a town and municipality located in theTuzla Canton of theFederation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an entity ofBosnia and Herzegovina. Kladanj is located on the road fromTuzla toSarajevo along the riverDrinjača, at the base ofKonjuh mountain.
The first mention of the town of Kladanj dates back to 1138.
The first record of Kladanj in Turkish sources is from 1469, referring to the Četvrtkovište marketplace where on Thursdays big fairs were held. In the period of Ottoman rule, Kladanj was mentioned in 1557, as a settlement (kasaba) within the Sarajevokadiluk (territorial unit) that would further on become a kadiluk itself withOlovo as a part of it.[1]

Thelumber industry called "Sokolina" is one of the most vital economic contributors to the municipality.
