InMandaeism,Kiwan,Kiuan (Classical Mandaic:ࡊࡉࡅࡀࡍ;Persian:کیوان), orKewan is the Mandaic name for the planetSaturn.[1] Kiwan is one of theseven planets (Classical Mandaic:ࡔࡅࡁࡀ,romanized: šuba,lit. 'The Seven'), who are part of the entourage ofRuha in theWorld of Darkness.[2][3]
Kiwan, who is associated with Saturday as well as Judaism, is also calledBrŠamiš (The Son of the Sun). Kiwan's name is derived from the AkkadianKajamānu.[4]
Near the end of Book 3 and at the beginning of Book 9.1 in theRight Ginza, Kiwan is identified with theKiwanaiia (followers of Kiwan), who are generally equated with theKentaeans, a related Gnostic sect.[3]
