Simon James Kippen (born 19 May 1992), better known by thering nameKip Sabian,[1] is an Englishprofessional wrestler. He is signed toAll Elite Wrestling (AEW), where he is a member ofThe Matriarchy.

Early life

Simon James Kippen[4] was born inGreat Yarmouth[5] on 19 May 1992.[6] Before entering the formal world of professional wrestling, Kippen engaged inbackyard wrestling alongside friend and future peerWill Ospreay, and also befriended future professional wrestlerSaraya.[7]

Professional wrestling career

Early career (2010–2019)

Sabian began his career with theWorld Association of Wrestling after graduating from the promotion's wrestling school.[5] He competed throughout England and Europe, capturing various titles including theIPW:UK World Championship andWorld Of Sport Wrestling Tag Team Championship. In 2018, he debuted forRing of Honor.[8] He also had a tag-team "Super Brotheys" with Pakistani wrestler Amir Jordan.

All Elite Wrestling (2019–present)

Various feuds (2019–2024)

In February 2019, Sabian signed withAll Elite Wrestling. Sabian made his AEW debut atDouble or Nothing where he defeatedSammy Guevara in AEW's first ever singles match.[9]

In late December, Sabian established himself as aheel after calling out members ofThe Elite, facing off againstKenny Omega on 10 December 2019 episode ofDark andCody on 30 January 2020 episode ofDynamite, losing both matches.[10][11] Sabian would also start to be managed by his real-life girlfriendPenelope Ford as he began feuding withJoey Janela, defeating him on 5 February episode ofDynamite but lost afalls count anywhere match on 25 February episode ofDark.[12][13]

On 15 April episode ofDynamite, Sabian began teaming withJimmy Havoc after Havoc delivered aDDT toOrange Cassidy on the floor during his match againstChuck Taylor.[14] The following week, Sabian took part in a tournament to crown the inauguralAEW TNT Champion, losing toDustin Rhodes in the first round.[15] Sabian and Havoc made their tag team debut losing toBest Friends in ano disqualification,no count-out tag team match on 29 April episode ofDynamite.[16] They would subsequently call themselves The Superbad Squad. They defeatedSoCal Uncensored'sFrankie Kazarian andScorpio Sky in a number one contender's match for theAEW World Tag Team Championship on 27 May episode ofDynamite.[17] They faced the champions Kenny Omega and"Hangman" Adam Page on the following week'sDynamite for the titles in a losing effort.[18] Sabian and Havoc's team ended when Havoc was released by AEW on 13 August.[19]

AtAll Out, Sabian announced that he and Ford were getting married while also teasing that he will reveal who his best man is for the wedding on the followingDynamite.[20] On 9 September 2020 episode ofDynamite,Miro was revealed to be the best man for Sabian and Ford's wedding.[21] In October, Sabian and Miro began feuding withBest Friends afterTrent accidentally destroyed the arcade game that Miro had purchased for Sabian as a wedding gift.[22] This culminated in anArcade Anarchy match on 31 March 2021 episode ofDynamite, where they were defeated.[23] On the 28 April episode ofDynamite, Miro turned on Sabian by attacking him backstage, thus ending their partnership.[24] On 17 May, Sabian underwent shoulder surgery thus rendering him out of action for over a year.[25]

On 24 August 2022, Sabian made his return onDynamite and attackedAEW All-Atlantic ChampionPac during the main event.[26] AtAll Out's Zero Hour pre-show on 4 September, Sabian fought Pac for the title in a losing effort.[27] On the 7 December episode ofDynamite, Sabian competed in theDynamite Dozen Battle Royale, being eliminated first by Dustin Rhodes.[28] He began a feud withOrange Cassidy over the All-Atlantic Championship, sendingTrent Seven in a failed attempt on 9 December episode ofRampage.[29] On 6 January 2023 atBattle of the Belts V, Sabian failed to win the title from Cassidy.[30] AtDouble or Nothing on 28 May, Sabian competed in the Blackjack Battle Royal for Cassidy's now renamed AEW International Championship, being eliminated by Chuck Taylor.[31] AtWorlds End's Zero Hour pre-show on 30 December, Sabian competed in a 20-man battle royale to become number one contender to theTNT Championship, being eliminated byBryan Keith.[32]

On 26 January 2024 episode ofRampage, Sabian competed in theFreshly Squeezed Four Way to determine the number one contender to Orange Cassidy's International Championship at tomorrow'sCollision, losing toKomander who pinned him.[33]

The Patriarchy / The Matriachy (2024–present)

Sabian began a feud withThe Patriarchy'sNick Wayne after being confronted by him at theBlood & Guts special on 24 July.[34] On the followingRampage, Sabian competed in theRoyal Rampage match to determine the number one contender toSwerve Strickland'sAEW World Championship atGrand Slam, eliminating Wayne before being thrown out by bothJay Lethal andJeff Jarrett.[35] On 16 August episode ofRampage, he lost to Wayne after being attacked byKillswitch.[36] AtAll In's Zero Hour pre-show on 25 August, Sabian was on the winning side of a16-man tag team match.[37] On 20 September episode ofRampage, he lost a four-way match to Wayne, which also involvedLio Rush andRocky Romero.[38] Five days later, atDynamite: Grand Slam, Sabian preventedChristian Cage from signing his AEW World Championship match contract.[39] On the 23 October episode ofDynamite, Sabian turned heel after preventingHook from attacking Cage.[40] Two weeks later, Sabian officially joined The Patriarchy.[41]

After Christian and Wayne failed to win theAEW World Tag Team Championship fromThe Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley andShelton Benjamin) atAll In: Texas on July 12, 2025, Wayne and Sabian turned on Christian and attacked him, thus kicking him out of The Patriarchy.[42] On the July 16 episode ofDynamite, The Patriachy was renamed to "The Matriachy".[43] On August 24 atForbidden Door, Sabian andKillswitch were defeated byAdam Copeland and Christian Cage.[44]

Personal life

In April 2020, Kippen got engaged to fellow professional wrestler Olivia Hasler better known by fans asPenelope Ford.[45] On 23 December 2020 episode ofAEW Dynamite: Holiday Bash, the couple announced that they would have a beach wedding on 3 February 2021 episode ofAEW Dynamite: Beach Break.[46] Kippen and Hasler married on 3 February 2021.[47][48] In March 2023, Kippen and Hasler disclosed to the public that Hasler had suffered amiscarriage during a 2022 pregnancy.[49]

On 20 December 2022, Kippen disclosed havingADHD, and also stated "Many years of finding coping mechanisms that work for my brain. I try to see it more as a super power with its hardships to be honest."[50][51]
