TheKing's Own Scottish Borderers Football Club (also referred to as2nd K.O.S.B.) was theassociation football team of the 2nd battalion of theKing's Own Scottish Borderers.[3]

History

The club was one of many army sides which played football in India when deployed there, and the club twice won theDurand Cup.[4]

While deployed at theVictoria Barracks, Belfast, the team played in theIrish Football League for the1903–04 season.[5][6] Previously, the battalion had been resident in Dublin, where it played in theLeinster Senior League.[7]

The unit was sent toGlasgow in 1907 and entered theScottish Qualifying Cup in 1907–08, losing 5–1 atRenton in the first round, despite Wreford keeping "a brilliant goal" for the visitors.[8] The club entered again in 1908–09 but scratched toLennox Amateurs.[9]

The club's ground depended on where the battalion was deployed. In its Scottish Qualifying Cup entries, the club was playing out of theMaryhill barracks.[11]
