Kim Rhodes (born June 7, 1969)[1] is an American actress who is known for portraying Cindy Harrison on thesoap operasAnother World[2] (1996–1999) andAs the World Turns (2000–2001), Carey Martin on theDisney Channel sitcomsThe Suite Life of Zack & Cody[3] (2005–2008) andThe Suite Life on Deck[1][4] (2008–2011), and SheriffJody Mills onSupernatural (2010–2020).[1]

Early life

Rhodes was born and raised inPortland, Oregon.[1][2] She graduated fromBenson Polytechnic High School, and then attendedSouthern Oregon University,[1][2] graduating in 1991, and earned aMaster of Fine Arts fromTemple University.[5]

Career

In 1997, while performing inAnother World, Rhodes was nominated, along withMark Pinter, for aSoap Opera DigestAward as "Favorite New Couple". For Rhodes's firstAnother Worldfan club luncheon, she rewrote the lyrics for "All For the Best" fromGodspell. Prior to herDisney Channel début, she had previously acted with theOregon Shakespeare Festival[2] for one season, portraying the roles of "Daphne Stillington" inNoël Coward'sPresent Laughter and "Helena" inShakespeare'sA Midsummer Night's Dream.

In 2005, Rhodes was cast as Carey Martin onThe Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Her character was notorious for her spiky blonde hair and her can-do attitude. She later reprised her role with several cameo appearances on the spin-off seriesThe Suite Life on Deck from 2008 to 2011.[citation needed]

In 2010, she was cast as SheriffJody Mills on theCW's showSupernatural.[6] She first appeared in Season 5; episode"Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid", with her character appearing in every season since as a guest star.

In 2018, Season 13; episode“Wayward Sisters“ was used as abackdoor pilot for a possible spin-off seriesof the same name, intended to feature Rhodes and fellow actressesBriana Buckmaster andKathryn Newton as the main characters.[7][8][9][10] The new series ultimately did not move forward.[11] Rhodes performs, alongside otherSupernatural's cast members, inJason Manns' 2018 album "Recovering With Friends."[12][13]

Personal life

Rhodes married actor Travis Hodges in 2006 and they reside inLos Angeles, California.[2] They have a daughter, who isautistic.[14] In August 2022, Rhodes shared that she had been diagnosed with autism that year.[15]
