Kevin Rutmanis (born October 17, 1958) is an American bass guitarist. He is of Latvian descent. Before getting into music, he was a student teacher.[1] In late 1985, along with his younger brotherSandris Rutmanis,Thor Eisentrager, and thenJayhawks drummer Norm Rogers, he started the bandThe Cows.[2] After the dissolution of The Cows, Rutmanis was thebass guitar player forThe Melvins from 1998 to 2005.[3][4] He was also the bass guitarist in the supergroupTomahawk featuringMike Patton.[5] Kevin played bass onTomahawk's first two long play releases, titledTomahawk[6] andMit Gas,[7] and played for two world tours supporting those albums. He has since recorded with Hepa-Titus.
