TheKentucky State Thorobreds football program representsKentucky State University in the sport ofAmerican football. The Thorobreds compete in theDivision II (D2) of theNational Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Western Division of theSouthern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).
The Thorobreds have competed in football as members of SIAC since the1996 NCAA Division II football season (in 1995, their games against other members of SIAC were treated as non-conference contests). From 1967 to 1984, the program competed in theNational Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) as a football independent. The program competed in theMidwest Athletic Association (MAA) in earlier years, including during its1934 and1935 seasons.
The Thorobreds have made oneappearance in the NCAA Division II playoffs, with a combined record of 0–1.
