Kendal Williams (born September 23, 1995) is an American professionaltrack and field athlete specializing in thesprints.[2] Representing theUnited States at the2014 World Junior Championships in Athletics, he earned gold medals in the100 meters and the4 × 100 m relay, upsetting teammate and favoriteTrayvon Bromell in the100 m who had earlier that year become the first junior to break the10-second barrier.[3][4][5]
Williams attendedStanton College Preparatory School where he won multiple state titles and was a high schoolAll-American.[6] He went toFlorida State University on scholarship in 2014 and competed for theSeminoles in 2015, placing second in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships100 m with a wind-assisted 9.98 seconds run as a freshman.[7] However he transferred to theUniversity of Georgia after his freshman year, following coach Ken Harnden whose contract had not been renewed by Florida State.[8]
In his senior year at Georgia he clocked a9.99 s run, this time with allowable wind, in the Southeastern Conference Championships100 m to win and set a new personal best.[9][10] He did not progress out of his heat at theNCAA Division I Championships, but he went on to make the final at theUSA Championships, finishing third in his last race representing theBulldogs.[11][12] He went on to represent the United States at the inauguralAthletics World Cup, earning a silver medal in the100 m and a gold medal in the4 × 100 m relay.
