Kenan Koçak (born 5 January 1981) is a Turkishfootball coach and a former player.[2]
Koçak was a youth product ofWaldhof Mannheim.[citation needed] He played sparsely for Waldhof Mannheim,Austria Salzburg,SSV Reutlingen,1. FC Pforzheim, and finally as a player-manager for Türkspor Mannheim.[3]
In the winter break of the 2010–11 season Kenan Koçak became manager of VfR Mannheim.[4] In his first competitive match as coach, his team was able to knock out the local rival of Waldhof Mannheim in the quarter-final of theBaden Cup.[5] In the regular season, Koçak reached second place with VfR Mannheim in theVerbandsliga Baden.[6] In the promotion play-off, his team facedFV Ravensburg. The first leg ended in a 1–1 draw. The second match was won by Mannheim with 2–0. As a result, Mannheim reached theOberliga Baden-Württemberg.[7] In his first Oberliga season, Koçak's team finished in second place.[8] After the first half of the 2011–12 season, VfR Mannheim was even at the top of the Oberliga.[9] In the 2012–13 season, Mannheim finished in third place.[10] After this season, Koçak left the club and became manager of Waldhof Mannheim, which played in theRegionalliga Südwest at the time.[11]
Waldhof Mannheim hired Koçak on 7 June 2013[12] and had his first match on 29 July 2013 againstSSV Ulm.[13] The final score was 4–2 for Waldhof Mannheim.[13] The club finished the2013–14 season in fifth place.[14] In thefollowing season, Waldhof Mannheim dropped down to 13th place.[15] Waldhof Mannheim won theRegionalliga Südwest during the2015–16 season.[16] In the promotion play-off, they faced off againstSportfreunde Lotte.[17] The first leg ended in a 0–0 draw and the second leg ended in a 2–0 win for Lotte.[17] Koçak left Waldhof Mannheim on 3 July 2016 to become manager ofSV Sandhausen.[18]
Koçak became manager of Sandhausen on 3 July 2016.[18] Kocak's debut match was a 2–2 draw againstFortuna Düsseldorf.[19] His first win with Sandhausen came on 22 August 2016 in a 2–1 win againstSC Paderborn.[20] He was sacked on 8 October 2018.[21]
On 14 November 2019, Koçak was appointed as manager ofHannover 96.[2] He left at the end of the 2020–21 season.[22]
On 27 September 2021,Turkish Football Federation announced that Koçak joined in technical staff of Turkey as Assistant Coach toStefan Kuntz.[1]
On September 18, 2024, he started coaching the1. Lig clubAnkaragücü, until December 2024.[23]
In December 2024, he returned toSV Sandhausen.[24] He left in April 2025.[25]
