Kayleden Courtney Brown (born 15 April 1992) is an English-bornWelsh formerfootballer who played as astriker.
AWales under-19 international, whilst aWest Bromwich Albion squad player he played onloan atBarrow,Keflavík,Tranmere Rovers,Dagenham & Redbridge, andPort Vale. He was released by West Brom in 2013 after struggling with a serious knee injury. He went on to play forMarket Drayton Town and thenStourbridge later that year.
After regularly appearing for the Baggies'reserve team, he went out onloan toBarrow in January 2010. He made twosubstitute appearances in theConference National before returning toThe Hawthorns. He then joinedIcelandictop flight sideKeflavík on a month-long loan at the start of the2010 Úrvalsdeild season, along with fellowWest Bromwich Albion playerLateef Elford-Alliyu.[3]
He joinedLeague One sideTranmere Rovers on loan at the beginning of the2010–11 season; TranmeremanagerLes Parry said that "Kayleden is a good young prospect who I've seen play a lot for West Brom's reserve side. He's strong, athletic and has a good scoring record."[4][5] He made hisFootball League debut on 14 August in a goalless draw withHuddersfield Town at theGalpharm Stadium.[6] He started his first Football League game away toDagenham & Redbridge on 28 August.[7] On 9 November, he joined Dagenham & Redbridge on a one-month loan,[8] making his debut for the club on 20 November in a league match against Oldham Athletic.[9] The deal was later extended by a further month and ended on 9 January.[10] On 21 January 2011 he joinedJim Gannon'sPort Vale on a one-month loan, along withRomaine Sawyers.[11] The pair returned toThe Hawthorns after the loan spell ended, with Brown having made four substitute appearances atVale Park.[12] At the end of the2012–13 season he was released by West Bromwich Albion due to a serious knee injury.
Brown started the2013–14 season withNorthern Premier League sideMarket Drayton Town. He soon moved on toSouthern League clubStourbridge, making his debut in mid-October after his injury kept him sidelined for a few weeks.[13]Gary Hackett's "Glassboys" finished in fifth place in2013–14, securing a play-off spot before losing toChesham United at the semi-final stage. They were then switched to theNorthern Premier League Premier Division, finishing in 16th place in2014–15 and sixth place in2015–16. Stourbridge finished third in the2016–17 campaign and went on to be beaten 1–0 bySpennymoor Town in the play-off final.[14]
Brown has received call-ups for theWales youth squads at bothU17 andU19 levels. He received his first international call-up for an under-17friendly tournament in July 2008.[15] For the under-19 side, he scored ahat-trick pastAndorra in a 6–0 win on 15 November 2008.[16] He also scored in games against bothFYR Macedonia andLiechtenstein.[17][18]
