Katrin Albsteiger (née Poleschner, born 20 November 1983) is aGerman politician from theChristian Social Union of Bavaria.
Albsteiger studiedpolitical science at theUniversity of Augsburg and theUniversity of Adelaide between 2003 and 2008.
Following her graduation, Albsteiger worked at the CSU headquarters in Munich from 2009 until 2010, before moving on to acorporate communications role at German energy companyE.ON. Between 2011 and 2013, she worked as a spokesperson for the Stadtwerke Ulm/Neu-Ulm utility company (SWU).
Between the2013 and the2017 federal elections, Albsteiger served as member of the GermanBundestag representing Bavaria.[1][2]
In parliament, Albsteiger served on the Committee on European Affairs and on the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment. She was her parliamentary group'srapporteur on youth unemployment and gender equality as well as onGreece,Cyprus andAustria.
In June 2017, Albsteiger voted against the introduction ofsame-sex marriage in Germany.[3]
Since 2021, Albsteiger has been serving as one of five deputy chairs of the CSU, under the leadership of chairmanMarkus Söder.[4]
Albsteiger was nominated by her party as delegate to theFederal Convention for the purpose of electing thePresident of Germany in2022.[5]
