Kathryn Aselton (born October 1, 1978) is an American actress, film director and producer. She directed and co-starred inThe Freebie, which was shown in the non-competition "Next" category at theSundance Film Festival in 2010.[1][2] She also starred in theFX sitcomThe League for its seven-season run from 2009 to 2015, and in the first two seasons of FX'sMarvel ComicsX-Men dramaLegion.

Early life

Aselton was born inMilbridge, Maine. She competed in pageants in 1995, and wasMiss Maine Teen USA 1995 and first runner-up atMiss Teen USA 1995.[3] She graduated fromNarraguagus High School inHarrington, Maine, in 1996.[4] She attendedBoston University School of Communications for two years before moving to Los Angeles to act, where she met her future husband, Mark Duplass. She then studied for two years at theAmerican Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York.[5]

Career

In 2004, Aselton appeared in a short film titledScrapple oppositeMark Duplass and his brotherJay Duplass who also wrote and directed the short.[5][6] Aselton made her feature-length film debut inThe Puffy Chair opposite Mark Duplass, who directed the film alongside his brother Jay.[7] The film premiered at Sundance in January 2005 and was released on June 2, 2006, in alimited release.[8][9] That same year, Aselton appeared opposite Steve Zissis in the short film "The Intervention".[10] In 2009, after a break from acting, Aselton appeared in an episode ofThe Office.[11] That same year, she appeared inEasier with Practice, "Other People's Parties", and "Feed the Fish".[12][13][14] In 2016, Aselton appeared inTogetherness, anHBO original series created by her husband and her brother in law, as Anna.[15] That same year, she was cast in a recurring role in the second season ofCasual as Jennifer.[16] Aselton also starred inFun Mom Dinner oppositeMolly Shannon andToni Collette, directed by Alethea Jones.[17] She was featured in an episode of Season 9 ofCurb Your Enthusiasm as Jean theUSPS Letter Carrier.

Personal life

Aselton is married to herThe League co-starMark Duplass.[18] They have two daughters together, born in 2007 and 2012.[19]
