Kathy L. Rapp (born February 23, 1951) is an American politician and currentRepublican member of thePennsylvania House of Representatives from the65th District.
Rapp was born on February 23, 1951, inSligo, Pennsylvania. She graduated fromWarren Area High School in 1969 and later attendedBryant & Stratton College. She earned her paralegal certification fromSlippery Rock State College.[2]
Prior to elective office, Rapp served as a community relations representative with Beverly Health Care inWarren, Pennsylvania. She volunteered for the Parent Education Network inYork, Pennsylvania. She also worked as a compliance monitor with thePennsylvania Department of Education, where she helped examinespecial education programs and served as a consultant with the Parent Education Network.[3]
Rapp was first elected to the represent the65th District in thePennsylvania House of Representatives in2004. She has since won re-election to nine more consecutive terms.[2][4]
Rapp was "very much" opposed to legalizingmedical cannabis in Pennsylvania, believing that it could open the door to full adult use cannabis legalization.[5][6]
In 2020, Rapp was among 26 Pennsylvania House Republicans who called for the reversal ofJoe Biden's certification as the winner of Pennsylvania's electoral votes in the2020 United States presidential election, citingfalse claims of election irregularities.[7]
Rapp lives inWarren, Pennsylvania. She has three children and seven grandchildren.[3]
