Katherine Zackary (born July 26, 1989) is an Americanrugby union andsevens player. She debuted for theUnited States in 2016 and for thesevens team in 2014. She won a silver medal at the2015 Pan American Games as a member of theUnited States women's national rugby sevens team.[2][3]

Early career

Zackary attendedSalina South High School andBenedictine College where she initially played soccer.[4][5] She attended college on a soccer scholarship and it was there that she saw rugby. She played rugby for the Benedictine Saints.

Rugby career

In 2014 she quit her job working in a gym to train full-time with thewomen's Eagles sevens team.[6]

Zackary joinedExeter Chiefs Women's team in 2020, but left to joinTrailfinders Women in 2023. Trailfinders compete in thePremiership Women's Rugby, the top tier of women's professional rugby inEngland.[1]

In 2022, she was named in the Eagles squad for thePacific Four Series inNew Zealand.[7][8] She was named in theEagles fifteens squad to the2021 Rugby World Cup inNew Zealand.[9][10][11]

Zackary was named in theEagles traveling squad for theirtest againstSpain, and for the2023 Pacific Four Series.[12][13] She was in the starting line-up when her side beat Spain 20–14.[14][15]

She led the Eagles in a closely contestedtest match againstJapan inLos Angeles on April 26, 2025, her side lost 33–39.[16][17] On July 17, she was selected for theEagles side to the2025 Women's Rugby World Cup that will be held inEngland.[18][19]
