Kate McMullan (née Hall; born January 16, 1947) is an American author of children's books. She has published over 100 books. Notable works include theMyth-o-Mania andDragon Slayers' Academy book series.

McMullan was born on January 16, 1947, inSt. Louis to Lee Aker and Kathryn Hall. She received aBachelor of Science from theUniversity of Tulsa in 1969.^[1]

After receiving her bachelor's degree, McMullan taught grade school inLos Angeles, after which she returned to school, receiving aMaster of Arts from theOhio State University in 1972.^[1] From 1972 to 1975, McMullan taught at a United States Air Force base in Hahn, West Germany. Upon return, she moved toNew York City, where she worked as an editor atHarcourt Brace Jovanovich, Inc.^[1]

While in New York, she met Irish-Canadian illustratorJames Burroughs McMullan (born 1934).^[2] The couple married on June 9, 1979. They have a daughter, Leigh Fenwick.^[1]

Starting in 1989, McMullan taught atNew York University School of Continuing Education.^[1]
