Kate Lyn Sheil (born June 13, 1985)[1] is an American actress. She has had roles inindependent films likeYou're Next,V/H/S,The Color Wheel,The Sacrament, andHouse of Cards.[2]
Sheil was born and raised inJersey City, New Jersey.[3] She studied atNew York University'sTisch School of the Arts, graduating in 2006 with a B.F.A. in acting. She also studied acting at theLee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.[4][5][6]
In 2016, after her filmKate Plays Christine premiered at theSundance Film Festival, she was dubbed "the Meryl Streep of the micro-budget film community" byRolling Stone.[7]
In 2020, Sheil starred inShe Dies Tomorrow directed byAmy Seimetz, which was initially set to premiere atSouth by Southwest in March 2020; however, the festival was scrapped due to theCOVID-19 pandemic. The film was released byNeon viavideo on demand on August 7, 2020.[8][9]
In 2023, Sheil starred inThe Seeding directed byBarnaby Clay, which premiered at theTribeca Film Festival in June 2023.[10]
Sheil has been married to comedianKyle Mooney since 2021.[11]
When interviewed for theSubstack newsletterPerfectly Imperfect in December 2023, Mooney revealed he and Sheil had welcomed a daughter.[12]
