Finnish mathematician (1873–1949)
Karl F. Sundman. Karl Frithiof Sundman (28 October 1873, inKaskinen – 28 September 1949, inHelsinki ) was aFinnish mathematician [ 1] infinite series solution to thethree-body problem in two papers published in 1907[ 2] [ 3] Acta Mathematica [ 4] regularization methods inmechanics in 1912.
[ edit ] Sundman was awarded the Pontécoulant prize by theFrench Academy of Science in 1913 for his work on the 3-body problem.[ 1] Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters [ 5] Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences .[ 6] Sundman on theMoon is named after him, as is the asteroid1424 Sundmania .
