Karina Lombard (born 21 January 1969)[1] is a Tahitian-born actress.[2] She appeared as Isabel Two inLegends of the Fall, as chief Nonhelema inTimeless, and as Marina Ferrer in the first and third seasons ofThe L Word.
She has also appeared in the filmsWide Sargasso Sea andThe Firm, and the television seriesCSI: Crime Scene Investigation,CSI: NY,NCIS,Rescue Me andThe 4400.[3]
Lombard's major break in modeling was a photoshoot with a 'Native American' theme. A year later, one of her photographs was chosen for a billboard that led to her first acting role. Photographs of her as a model have appeared in the magazinesElle andVogue.[2]
Lombard studied acting in New York City at theLee Strasberg Theatre Institute and theActors Studio, where she also gained stage experience performing at the Gallery Theatre andNeighborhood Playhouse.[4]
Lombard's first film role was as a princess inL'île (The Island).[2] In 1993, she played her first major role as Antoinette Cosway, a Jamaican heiress, inWide Sargasso Sea, based on the novel of the same name byJean Rhys. She had supporting parts inThe Firm (1993) andLegends of the Fall (1994), and starred inLast Man Standing (1996) withBruce Willis.[2]
In the 2000s, she moved to television, appearing inThe 4400 and as restaurateur Marina Ferrer in the first season ofThe L Word.[5] She also played the recurring character Geneviève onFX'sRescue Me.[6][7]
