Karim Sadjadpour (Persian:کریم سجادپور) is an Iranian-Americanpolicy analyst[1] at theCarnegie Endowment for International Peace based inWashington D.C.. Prior to that he was "chiefIran analyst" at theInternational Crisis Group. He is a contributor toBBC TV and radio,CNN,National Public Radio,PBS NewsHour andAl-Jazeera, and has also appeared on theToday Show,Charlie Rose,Fox News Sunday and theColbert Report. He contributes regularly to publications such as theEconomist,Washington Post,New York Times,International Herald Tribune andForeign Policy.[2]
Sadjadpour was born and raised inMidland, Michigan to Iranian parents. He would often read the newspaper as a child. When he was 15, he became anexchange student inVeracruz, Mexico, which sparked his interest in international relations. He graduated fromMidland High School in 1995.[3] Sadjadpour received aBachelor of Arts at theUniversity of Michigan, and anM.A. atPaul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, studying abroad inRome, Italy.[2][4]
He has briefed U.S., EU and Asian officials about Middle Eastern affairs, he testified before the US Congress, has lectured atHarvard,Princeton, andStanford Universities. He is the recipient of a number of academic awards, including a Fulbright scholarship.[2]
In 2007 Sadjadpour was named aYoung Global Leader by theWorld Economic Forum inDavos.[2] He is a board member of the Banu Foundation, an organization dedicated to assisting grassroots organizations that are empowering women worldwide.[2]
