Kari Lizer (born August 26, 1961) is an American actress, writer, and producer.[2]

Life and career

Lizer was born inSan Diego, California.[2]

She was the creator andexecutive producer of theCBSsitcomThe New Adventures of Old Christine. In May 2010, CBS canceledOld Christine after five seasons. Upon its cancellation, Lizer slammed the network and suggested the decision to cancel the show was sexist.[3][4] Previously, she had been co-executive producer ofWill & Grace for three years, for which she was nominated for the Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Comedy Series category.[5][6]

Lizer also created the comedyMaggie Winters.[7]

As an actress, Lizer played Cassie Phillips onMatlock,[8] Diana Benedict onSunday Dinner,[8]: 1035  and Chris Burgess onThe Van Dyke Show.[8]: 1137 

In April 2020, Lizer released her first book,Aren't You Forgetting Someone?: Essays from My Mid-Life Revenge.[9]
