Karaca Island (Turkish:Karaca Ada) is anAegean island ofTurkey.
Karaca island is named after the village facing the island. At36°57′39″N28°11′46″E / 36.96083°N 28.19611°E /36.96083; 28.19611 it is administratively a part ofMarmaris ilçe (district) ofMuğla Province. . It is situated in theGulf of Gökova and about 400 metres (1,300 ft) to mainland (Anatolia). FamousSedir Island is to the north of Karaca Island. Its area is 381×103 square metres (4.10×106 sq ft).[1]
The island belongs to aTurkish family. Recently, the owners put the island on the market. But the island is an archaeological site and there are serious objections against this sale.[2]
