Karád (Croatian:Karadin) is a village inSomogy county,Hungary.
The settlement is part of theBalatonboglár wine region.[2]
Its name derives from theTurkish person name,Kara (Hungarian:fekete, English:black). He could be the first owner of the settlement. The same applies toKára.[3]
According toLászló Szita the settlement was completely Hungarian in the 18th century.[4]
The Hungarian folk songsFót hátán fót, egy üngöm vót (in 1938) andA karádi faluvégen (in 1933) were collected in Karád byGyula Dávid as well asRén a bárány (in 1953) byLászló Vikár.
