SIMBADdata

κ Pictoris,Latinised asKappa Pictoris, is a star in theconstellationPictor. It is close to the lower limit of stars that are visible to the naked eye having anapparent visual magnitude of +6.11.[2] Based upon an annualparallax shift of 5.14 mas as seen from Earth,[1] this star is located around 630 light years from theSun. At that distance, the visual magnitude is diminished by anextinction factor of 0.10 due tointerstellar dust.[5]

This is aB-type main sequence star with astellar classification of B8/9 V.[3] It is about 76.4% of the way through itsmain sequence lifespan.[6] The star is spinning rapidly with aprojected rotational velocity of 264 km/s.[6] It has an estimated 3.4 times themass of the Sun and is radiating 210 times theSun's luminosity from itsphotosphere at aneffective temperature of 11,641 K.[6]
