Kadidiatou Diani (born 1 April 1995) is a French professionalfootballer who plays as aforward forPremière Ligue clubLyon and theFrance national team.

Career

On 2 August 2023, Diani was announced atLyon on a four year contract.[3]

On 27 September 2023, an investigation was opened against her former coachDidier Ollé-Nicolle, with Diani accusing him of sexual assault.[4]

International career

Diani has played forFrance at several youth levels, including in the2012 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, where she scored four goals and helped her side winning the championship.[5] She also played in the2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, scoring one goal againstNew Zealand and helping France to finish in the third place.[5]

Diani was called up to the France squad for theUEFA Women's Euro 2017.[6]

Diani was called up to the France squad for the2019 FIFA Women's World Cup.[7]

On 30 May 2022, Diani was called up to the France squad for theUEFA Women's Euro 2022.[8]

On 24 February 2023, she announced she would no longer play for the national team after captainWendie Renard said she would step down to save her mental health. Diani said she wanted changes to be made to the way the team was managed.[9]

Diani was called up to the France squad for the2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.[10] On 2 August 2023, she scored a hat-trick in a 6–3 victory overPanama in the2023 FIFA Women's World Cup last group stage match.[11]

In July 2024, Diani was named in France's squad for the2024 Olympics.[12]

Personal life

Diani was born inIvry-sur-Seine, France on 1 April 1995, and is of Malian descent.[13]

Her "adviser", César Mavacala, was a suspect in theHamraoui case.[14] In February 2022, she caused a controversy withMarie-Antoinette Katoto for her support toAminata Diallo during a goal celebration forFrance.[15]
