KXNT (840kHz) is acommercialAMradio stationlicensed toNorth Las Vegas, Nevada. It broadcasts anews-talkradio format and is owned and operated byAudacy, Inc.[2] Thestudios are in the unincorporatedClark County community ofSpring Valley, while KXNT'stransmitter is onU.S. Route 93 at Great Valley Parkway in North Las Vegas.[3]

KXNT is aClass B station operating on aclear channel frequency.WHAS inLouisville is the dominant Class A station on840 AM, so KXNT must reduce its power at night to avoid interfering with WHAS's signal. KXNT operates with 50,000watts by day and 25,000 watts at night, using adirectional antenna with a four-tower array.

KXNT is licensed to broadcast in theHD radio format, but is not currently broadcasting in HD.[4][5] KXNT is Southern Nevada's primary entry point station for theEmergency Alert System.

Programming

On weekdays, KXNT airs two local talk shows. In morningdrive time, an hour is hosted by Alan Stock. And Sam Mirejowsky hostsWhat's Right in afternoons. The rest of the weekday schedule isnationally syndicated talk shows, includingGlenn Beck;Dave Ramsey;Dana Loesch;Matt Walsh;Mark Levin;Will Cain;Coast to Coast AM withGeorge Noory andThis Morning, America's First News with Gordon Deal.

Weekends feature shows on money, politics, health, law, veterans and food. Syndicated hosts includeErick Erickson;Ben Ferguson;Bill Handel andThe Money Pit Home Improvement Radio Show. Some hours feature paidbrokered programming.

KXNT carries hourly reports fromCBS News Radio and financial reports fromBloomberg Radio. It has a local news alliance withKLAS-TV, theCBSNetwork affiliate in Las Vegas.KXNT currently has rights to the Los Angeles Chargers radio network.

KXNTsigned on the air in 1986 with thecall letters KVEG, airing a talk andmiddle of the road music (MOR) format. It was owned by the Roberts Communications Corp.[6]

Over the years, KVEG had several noted hosts including Sam Greenfield, Dominick Brascia, Lou Epton,Irwin Schiff and the syndicatedTom Leykis. In 1997, KVEG changed itscall sign to KXNT with the "NT" standing for "News/Talk". The station moved to a more traditional talk radio line up, airingThe Rush Limbaugh Show andCoast to Coast AM previously heard on rival station 720KDWN. Other talk shows includedDr. Laura andBill Handel.

In 1998,Infinity Broadcasting acquired KXNT.[7] In December 2005, Infinity was renamedCBS Radio. On February 2, 2017, CBS Radio announced it would merge withEntercom.[8] The merger was approved on November 9, 2017, and was consummated on November 17.[9][10] In 2021, Entercom changed its name to Audacy, Inc.

Between August 16, 2010, and September 4, 2015, programming on KXNT wassimulcast on sisterFM station KXNT-FM (100.5), to give listeners who prefer FM that option. That station now airs arhythmic hot adult contemporary format, under the call signKXQQ-FM, however KXNT can still be heard on its HD2 subchannel.
