History

[edit]

KUAL previously aired acountry music format as KFGI "Froggy 103.5". In or around 2004, KFGI flipped to its current oldies format, branded as "Cool 103.5, Good Time Oldies", under the newcall sign KUAL.

Hubbard Broadcasting announced on November 13, 2014, that it would purchase theOmni Broadcasting stations, including KUAL-FM.[3] The sale was completed on February 27, 2015, at a purchase price of $8 million for the 16 stations and one translator.[4]

In recent years,[when?] KUAL has shifted away from a 1950s and 1960s-centered oldies format more towards aclassic hits-leaning 1960s and 1970s oldies format. To reflect these changes, KUAL dropped the "Good Time Oldies" slogan and adopted "The Lakes Greatest Hits" as its new slogan. Sister stationKULO inAlexandria, which closely resembled KUAL format wise, made a similar move, but shifted more towards a 1980s-centered classic hits format.
