KDXU (890kHz) is acommercialAM radio station broadcasting anews/talkformat.Licensed toSt. George, Utah, the station is owned byTownsquare Media.[2] The studios are on Ridgeview Drive in St. George.

By day, KDXU is powered at 10,000 wattsnon-directional. As890 AM is aclear channel frequency reserved forClass A stationWLS in Chicago, at night KDXU uses adirectional antenna with a three-tower array. Thetransmitter is on East 2450 South near South 3210 East.[3] Programming is also heard on 99-wattFM translatorK223DI at 92.5MHz,[4] and onKDXU-FM (106.1) inColorado City, Arizona.

Weekdays begin with a local news and talk show hosted by Andy Griffin. The rest of the KDXU schedule isnationally syndicated talk programs:The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show,The Sean Hannity Show,The Ben Shapiro Show,The Matt Walsh Show,The Mark Levin Show,The Ramsey Show withDave Ramsey,Coast to Coast AM withGeorge Noory andThis Morning, America's First News with Gordon Deal.

Weekends feature specialty shows on health, money, religion, travel, technology and the paranormal. Syndicated weekend shows includeThe Kim Komando Show,Travel with Rudy Maxa andStrange Planet with Richard Syrett. Most hours begin with an update fromFox News Radio. KDXU is also anaffiliate of theBYU Cougars Sports Network.

History

KDXU signed on July 3, 1957.[5] It originally broadcast on 1450 kHz. It aired afull service format ofMiddle of the Road (MOR) music with news, talk and sports. It was an affiliate of theABC Information Radio Network. In 1973, it added an FM station,KDXU-FM (93.5). The FM station aired anautomatedbeautiful music format, playing quarter hour sweeps of soft instrumental music. It later switched itscall sign to KZEZ.

KDXU was only permitted to broadcast at 1,000 watts by day and 250 watts at night. Management wanted to improve its signal. The station's frequency was moved to 890 kHz in September 1985.[6] A three-towerdirectional antenna was constructed for use from sunset to sunrise. The following year, KDXU and KZEZ were acquired by Simmons Family Media, Inc., based inSalt Lake City. Simmons later sold KDXU toTownsquare Media.

In January 2022, KDXU begansimulcasting onFM translator K223DI at 92.5 MHz in St. George. Another simulcast, onKDXU-FM (106.1) inColorado City, Arizona, was added in December 2024.[7]
