K. S. Basavanthappa (born 1970) is an Indian politician fromKarnataka. He is an MLA fromMayakonda Assembly constituency which is reserved for SC community inDavangere district. He won the2023 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election representingIndian National Congress.[1][2][3]

Early life and education

Basavanthappa is fromMayakonda, Davangere district. His late father KM Sangappa was a farmer. He completed his Class 10 and later after studying first P.U.C. in 1988 at A.R.G. College, Davangere, he discontinued his studies.[4]

Career

Basavanthappa won theMayakonda Assembly constituency representingIndian National Congress in the2023 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election. He polled 70,916 votes and defeated his nearest rival, B. M. Pushpa Vageeshaswamy, an independent candidate by a margin of 33,614 votes.[2]
